Themed Nomination – Treasures from the Sewing Basket

I’m guessing that many of our team members have in common a fondness for sewing baskets. Finding an old sewing basket or box filled with trinkets and treasures at a garage sale is such a thrill. I’ll usually buy the whole thing on the spot and then take it home and spend hours going through the various buttons, threads, needles, pieces of lace, old sewing tools and unexpected little items that someone, usually the woman of the house, stashed away for a rainy day and forgot about it. One of the most unexpected and coolest things I’ve ever found was a tiny seahorse wrapped in tissue paper stuffed in a little jar. I’ve come across so many amazing items from EcoEtsy team members that have been made from sewing basket treasures.
Like this very pretty necklace made from repurposed fabric, beads, rhinestones and vintage lace:

This exquisite textile bow necklace has been made by Fabula whose accessories are all made from vintage, recycled or thrifted materials.

I look forward to seeing the wonderfully creative items that EcoEtsy team members have made from their (I am sure) bottomless sewing baskets.

You can do a tag search on Etsy for ‘teamecoetsy’ to find an item or items you’d like to nominate and please send your nominations via Etsy convo to Morgen at Kootsac. The deadline is 3PM EST on Wednesday.
