While Waiting for the Dentist…….

I recently found myself sitting in the dentist chair waiting for my semi-annual cleaning to begin and  had the  choice of several not very up to date magazines to choose from to entertain myself  while I waited.  Should I find out what the stars of People magazine were doing last year ,  or read some beauty tips in Redbook from 2008? No! Instead I picked up the December 2009 issue of Atlanta magazine and began to find out about all the great restaurants and events I had missed out on in the past 6 months!

Fortunately, my wait was short, but I did come to a page that peaked my interest, and when I got home I went straight to the website I found in the “Thrive” section and I wanted to share it with you here. ” My ecoville”  is a website template that can be purchased and used for educational purposes for states or counties.  My state of Georgia  has a my ecoville website and it is: www.myecoville.com/us/ga/home.  There are currently  7 sites up and running for North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Michigan.

In Georgia the site is sponsored by the Georgia Recycling Coalition, and  it is packed with information!

You can find out:

information on exactly what is a landfill

tips and information on composting

all about styrofoam and batteries

top 10 ways to save water

Lots of other stuff too, which I plan to peruse since I now have  “My Ecoville” marked in my bookmarks.

Anybody else have any great websites you’d like to share on where and how to recycle, or resources in your area for living a greener life? I’d love to hear about them!

I also share eco tips, fun DIY's and enviro news on ecokaren. I sell handmade goodies in my Etsy shop and help others open Etsy businesses as a handmade educator.
