Shortbread cookie recipe

Happy Holidays everybody! I wanted to start off the season with my favorite cookie recipe. If any of you are doing cookie challenges here is a simple one to start off with.













The shortbread cookie is a crumbly biscuit like cookie that goes great with milk or coffee.













Here is what you need:

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter (room temperature)

3 cups flour (half a cup of the three set aside)










Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Cream the sugar and butter together. Mix in two and a half cups of flour until it is thoroughly combined. Flour your work surface with the remaining half cup of flour. Kneed the dough until you see cracks beginning to form on the surface. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into shapes, bars, squares or whatever suits your fancy. With a fork, prick the cookies and put them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes till tops are light brown. You can add nuts, chocolate or other goodies to the mix if you like.













If like me you mess up and forget to put the holes in you may end up with a hard cookie. That’s ok. It can be crumbled and used to layer chocolate pudding cups. In fact you don’t have to mess up for that to be a good way to use your cookies.

  1. I also love cookies especially the classic chocolate chip cookie. Everyone who wants to bake should start with their favorite cookie. It is nice if you can whip up some cookies since it is a good pastry for any events.
