September is National Preparedness Month

In the US, September is National Preparedness Month, but it’s not a bad time for readers everywhere to take stock of their ability to survive a disaster.
According to a CNN poll

Six out of 10 American families said they did not have a family emergency plan, according to the survey. Only 19% felt they were “very prepared” for a disaster.

Changes to weather patterns have meant extreme heat for some, extreme cold for others, record rainfall, and stronger storms in many places. Whether you need to prepare for a weather-related event, or something more directly man-made, there are a few basic items that everyone should keep ready.
